About Legacy Fund Limited

The Senior Accountant is the first level of finance and is responsible to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our affiliated Group and Firm. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for Firm and Group Budget preparations and presentations; paying salaries, Social
Security Contributions, Taxes, expenses, financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities:
o Analyze and prepare financial information inclusive of a review of the Firm and Group’s
financial position and performance and summarize financial status.

o Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.

o Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Manual for Firm and Affiliated Group and
update SOP on a quarterly basis for approval by Management and going over each Procedure
with Accounts Clerk/Administrative Officer. This includes developing and documenting
business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
o Monthly training of Accounting and Finance staff by going over each Procedure in the SOPs
with Accounts Clerk/Administrative Officer and any designated cross-training support staff.
o Lead and supervise (plan, assign and review) accounting staff, providing on-going guidance
and feedback:
o Ensuring that posting done in QuickBooks are correct and done in a timely manner.
o Assist Accounting Staff where necessary when posting Invoices, Receipts, Journal
Entries, Check Payments, entering of expenses, filing of taxes and Reconciling Bank
Accounts.

o On accounting Staff routine task provided for reference (As annexed 1).
o Payments of staff salaries, Social Security Contributions, expenses, etc.
o Manage the daily activities of an assigned Firm and Affiliated Group operating account to
make payments of Three Thousand, Five Hundred, Zero dollars (3,500.00) or less for Board
Approved budgetary expenditures and recurring operating expenses.
o Review and manage the Accounting and Finance staff’s preparation of monthly Social
Security Contributions, Filing of monthly Employee Income Tax (P.A.Y.E.), Contract Taxes,
Business Tax Returns and General Sales Tax Returns. Signing Returns, making arrangements
for payment and ensuring that they are filed on or before due date to ensure compliance.
o Preparing monthly Journal Entries and adjusting entries as needed.
o Maintain and reconcile Balance Sheet and Income accounts to the General Ledger monthly.
o Provide support for internal and external annual audits for Firm and Affiliated Group’s
Auditor.
o Provide point of contact and Accountable Officer for the Firm and Affiliated Group on
queries or assessment from Belize Tax Services and Belize Social Security Board.

o Responsible for the month-end and year-end closing process and preparation of financial
statements.
o Balancing of all Firm and Affiliated Group Accounts.
o Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable on a monthly basis.
o Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
o Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
o Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems, programs and procedures.
o Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
o Provide input into Firm’s and Affiliated Group’s goal setting process.
o Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of
non-compliance.
o Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
o Coordinating accounting functions and programs.
o Provide technical support and advice to Management.
o Performing other accounting duties and as required or assigned from time to time.
Skills & Competencies
o Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, chief or senior
accountant.
o Excellent command of Online QuickBooks Enterprise and related software.
o Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
o In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
o Awareness of business trends.
o Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
o Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
o Hands-on experience with accounting software packages like QuickBooks.
o Good MS Excel skills accuracy and attention to detail.
o Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
o BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant.
o Relevant certification (e.g. CMA, CPA or CFA) will be preferred.
o Excellent communicator (both written and verbal) with great interpersonal skills.
o Natural inclination to follow through so clients understand their concerns are taken seriously.
o Ability to analyzing problems in order to come up with resolutions.
o Demonstrate strong operational competency and excellent managerial skills.
o Strong attention to detail to ensure improvement of operational and other relevant processes.
o Knowledge of budgeting, reporting, planning and auditing.
o Excellent project management and organizational skills.
o Strong people management and leadership skills.
o Self-starter with strong ability to take initiative
Qualifications
o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
o 5+ years of accounting experience
o Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP
o Excellent attention to detail
o Strong financial analysis skills
o Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
o Strong organizational and stress management skills
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
o Ability to train and manage staff
o Ability to work with little to no supervision
Work Environment
The work characteristics described here are representative of those that the Senior Accountant
will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
Approximately 80% of work will be conducted in the office at the Job Location.
Approximately 20% of work will be conducted outside of the office assisting with research,
meeting with Capital Market Regulators, Tax Regulators, clients, and conducting presentations.
Domestic and international travel will be required.
